Details
If the birthday kid has spent months answering every question with "six seveeen", you already know what has to go on the cake. This topper spells out TODAY I AM 6-7 in chunky raised letters, which is the only technically correct way to describe turning seven. Most of the table gets the joke before the cake has landed.
The clever bit sits behind the lettering. There is a socket moulded into the base that grips a standard upright cake fountain, the little cone or cylinder sold here as an ice fountain. Drop one in and it stands straight, so the sparks climb instead of tipping into the buttercream.
- The fountain itself is not included and we do not sell them. Any supermarket or party shop version of the upright type will fit.
- Upright cake fountains only, never thin handheld sparklers. It is a firework, so an adult lights it, stays beside it and follows the instructions on the packet.
Each one is 3D printed to order in PLA, a rigid plant-based plastic, so the letters have real depth and a clean edge instead of the wobble you get from card. It is about 15 cm (6 in) wide with a flat bar base that sits level on icing. Ten colours in all: black, grey, blue, pink, purple, yellow and four rainbow blends coded RGP, RBG, RYB and BBP, which shift shade across the letters. The photos show it in bold blue.
It is not edible and it is not food, so lift it off before the cake gets cut. Wipe it, keep it, and it turns into a small souvenir of the year everyone counted to 6-7.
The hyphen is doing a lot of work here: the numbers print as one joined 6-7 rather than two separate figures, which is what makes it read as the phrase and not as a badly ordered age topper.
Questions about this topper
Is the ice fountain in with the topper?
No. The topper is the holder only, and we do not sell fireworks. You want a standard upright cake fountain, sold in UK supermarkets and party shops as an ice fountain. The usual cone or cylinder ones drop straight into the socket. Never put a thin handheld sparkler in it.
Is a cake fountain safe on a child's birthday cake?
An upright cake fountain on a cake is a common party thing, but it is still a firework. An adult should light it, stand beside it and follow the instructions printed on the packet. Keep it clear of low ceilings, decorations and hair, keep children back, and never leave it unattended.
Are 3D printed toppers food safe for a child's cake?
We do not sell it as food safe and it is not edible. PLA is a rigid plant-based plastic, and this is a decoration that rests on the icing and is lifted off before you cut. If you would rather it never touched the cake, stand it on a small plaque or baking parchment.
How big is it, and what cake does it fit?
About 15 cm (6 in) wide. That is nearly the full width of a 6 in cake and a comfortable centrepiece on an 8 in or larger one. The base is a flat bar rather than spikes, so it wants a level surface: firm buttercream, fondant or a cake board all work.
If the party is in a fortnight, will it make it?
Comfortably. Every topper is made to order and dispatched from Spain in 1-3 working days, then tracked UK delivery takes 4-7 working days at EUR 8.95. Spain is 2-4 at EUR 3.95 and the EU 3-6 at EUR 6.95, free on orders of EUR 35 or more.
Can it be used again after the party?
Yes. It is rigid PLA rather than card, so it does not soften, curl or lose its shape in the fridge. Wipe the icing off with a damp cloth, dry it, and it goes on next year's cake or on a shelf. Plenty of people keep this one purely as a memento of the meme.
