HAPPY BIRTHDAY set in two stacked lines of solid capitals, and next to it a beer mug with the froth spilling over the rim. The number you choose is cut out of the glass itself, so it reads as part of the pint rather than as a figure parked beside it. It is the topper for the birthday that gets marked in a pub garden rather than a soft-play centre: a 30th, a 40th, a 50th, or any year in between that is worth a round.
The socket is moulded into the base behind the lettering, in line with the mug. Drop in a standard upright cake fountain, the cone or cylinder that UK shops sell as an ice fountain, and it stands straight while it burns, so the sparks climb up through the foam. It looks, briefly, like the pint is overflowing.
- The fountain is not included and we do not sell fireworks. Any supermarket or party shop version of the upright type will fit.
- Upright cake fountains only, never thin handheld sparklers. It is a firework, so an adult lights it, stays beside it and follows the instructions on the packet.
Each one is 3D printed to order in PLA, a rigid plant-based plastic, in our small studio in Spain. It is about 15 cm (6 in) wide on a flat bar base that sits level on soft buttercream, and it comes in ten colours, four of them rainbow blends. The photos show it in grey, which is the one people pick for a black-and-gold drip cake.
Type the age into the personalisation box and we print exactly that, from a single digit to three. It is the one thing this design needs, so it is not optional. There is no name on this topper: if you want a name as well, our name-and-age designs are the ones to look at.
It is a decoration and not food, so it lifts off before the cake is cut. Wash it, dry it, and it stays legible for the next round birthday — the number is the only thing tying it to this one, and it is cut cleanly enough to read from the far end of a long table.
Questions about this topper
Does a cake fountain come with it?
No, and we do not sell fireworks. This is the topper with the holder built into the base. You add a standard upright cake fountain, sold in the UK as an ice fountain, from a party shop or supermarket. Thin handheld sparklers are the wrong type and are not safe in it.
Can I have any number on it?
Any number from one to three digits. The usual ones are 30, 40, 50 and 60, but 21, 45 and 80 print exactly the same way. Type it into the personalisation box and we print what you type. The number is the whole design here, so we cannot make this one without it.
Can I have a name on it as well?
Not on this design — the mug holds the number and there is no room for a name beside it. If you want a name, our personalised name-and-age toppers carry both, and the milestone golf topper does the same for a golfer. This one is the beer version, and it is the number that does the work.
Is it suitable for a woman's birthday?
Yes. It is a beer topper rather than a men's topper, and it goes on any cake for anyone who would rather be handed a cold pint than a bunch of flowers. Pink and purple are both in the ten colours if the black-and-grey look is not the one you are after.
Can I keep it after the party?
That is rather the point. It is a solid printed piece, not card, so it lifts off before the cake is cut and washes clean under running water. Do not use hot water and do not put it in the dishwasher — PLA softens with heat. Kept in a drawer it comes out again years later.
How long before the party should I order?
It is printed to order in 1-3 working days, then tracked delivery takes another 5-10 business days, so allow up to 14 days in total. Shipping is EUR 5.80 per order to Spain and EUR 15 to the rest of the EU, free from EUR 70. Order three weeks out if the party has a fixed date, and a little earlier around Christmas and in August.
