Most dragon cake toppers are a flat silhouette. This one is a proper little sculpture: a dragon sitting back on its haunches with its tail curled, head tipped up and jaws open around the mouth of the fountain, so once it is lit the sparks look like they are coming out of the dragon. It behaves more like a party trick than a decoration, and that is why it is the most expensive topper we make.
The socket sits between its jaws and takes a standard upright cake fountain, the cone or cylinder type sold in the UK as an ice fountain. The dragon's weight and wide base keep everything upright, which is more than can be said for wedging a firework into buttercream and hoping.

It is 3D printed to order in iridescent PLA, which shifts as the light moves across it. That filament is unpredictable, so no two dragons come out quite the same and the exact shade varies a little between batches. Part of the charm, but worth knowing before it arrives. There is nothing to choose on this design: it is made in the one finish shown, about 15 cm (6 in) across.
The topper is a decoration and not food, so lift it off before the cake is cut. Wash the icing off and it becomes a desk dragon, which is where most of the value is: this outlives the party by about a decade.

Questions about this topper
Does the dragon arrive with a fountain in its jaws?
No. The dragon holds the fountain, it does not include one. Buy a standard upright cake fountain, sold as an ice fountain in UK supermarkets and party shops, and drop it into the socket between the jaws. Only the upright cone or cylinder type fits, never a thin handheld sparkler.
Is it safe to light a fountain in the dragon's mouth?
Treat it exactly as you would any indoor firework. An adult lights it, stays beside it and follows the instructions on the fountain's packet. Keep it well clear of low ceilings, bunting and hair, keep children at a distance, and never leave it burning while you go to fetch the camera.
Why does this cost more than your other toppers?
It is a full three-dimensional sculpture rather than a flat plate, so it takes far longer on the printer and uses considerably more filament. The iridescent material costs more too. You end up with an object that stands on its own on a shelf, which a card or acrylic topper cannot do.
Will my dragon look exactly like the photographs?
Close, but not identical. Iridescent filament shifts with the angle of the light and varies slightly between batches, so yours will not be a perfect match for the one photographed. The shape and size are the same every time. Most people treat the variation as a feature.
Does it clean up and keep?
Yes. It is rigid PLA, so it does not warp, curl or fade the way card does. Wipe or rinse the icing off, dry it, and it goes on the next cake or straight onto a desk. It is not food-safe tableware, so keep it as a decoration rather than storing anything in it.
