Two laurel branches curve up into a heart. Inside it, a bride and groom stand holding hands. Above them, Mr & Mrs in script with the ampersand at the top of the arch. The fountain sits exactly where their hands meet, so when it is lit the sparks rise through the middle of the heart. That is the photograph you will actually keep.
The socket is moulded into the flat base and takes a standard upright cake fountain, the ice fountain sold in supermarkets and party shops. It holds it dead straight, which matters when a photographer is waiting and the cake cost rather more than the topper did.

Made to order in PLA, a rigid plant-based plastic, about 15 cm (6 in) wide, which is large enough to fill the top tier without swamping it. Eleven colours, four of them rainbow blends; white suits a classic iced cake and grey reads closer to brushed metal, if it is that sort of wedding. It is not edible and comes off before cutting, then wipes clean and goes on a shelf with the other things you kept.
This version carries no names, which is deliberate. It can be ordered late, it suits anniversaries and vow renewals just as well, and nothing on it dates. The laurel heart is closed at the bottom rather than left open, so the whole thing lifts off the cake in one piece without catching on the icing.
Questions about this topper
Is an ice fountain included with the Mr and Mrs topper?
No. You are buying the topper and its built-in holder. Cake fountains are sold separately in UK supermarkets and party shops as ice fountains, usually in packs. Use the upright cone or cylinder type that shoots sparks straight up, never a handheld sparkler, which is the wrong shape entirely.
Are cake fountains safe on a wedding cake?
An indoor upright cake fountain is designed for the job, but it is still a firework. Ask one person to light it and stay with it, follow the instructions on the packet, and check what is above the cake: low ceilings, drapes, balloon arches and veils all need clearance.
Will it fit a small or a tiered cake?
It is about 15 cm (6 in) wide, which fills the top of a 6 in tier and sits comfortably centred on anything larger. It stands on a flat bar base rather than spikes, so a firm iced surface or a cake board is ideal. On very soft cream, use a small board underneath.
How is this different from your personalised wedding topper?
This one is the classic Mr and Mrs design with no names on it, so there is nothing to spell out and nothing to check, and it can be ordered later. The personalised version carries both first names and the wedding date, which makes it more of a keepsake but needs a longer run-up.
Can we keep it after the day?
Yes, that is rather the point. It is rigid PLA, not card or sugar, so it does not soften, yellow or crumble. Wipe the icing off after the cutting, and it sits on a shelf with the cards and the photos. Some couples put it back out on the table at anniversaries.
