A small unicorn with a crown and a swirl of lolly, standing over your child's name in solid raised letters. That is the whole design, and it is why it still reads from across the room in a photograph: the name is the topper, not a sticker stuck onto one.
You type the name and we print it exactly as typed, capitals, lowercase and accents included, so Ana, ANA and Anna each come out the way you wrote them. Personalisation is free and adds nothing to the wait. Longer names make the topper slightly taller; the width stays at about 15 cm (6 in).
Set into the base, just behind the letters, is a socket for a standard upright cake fountain. That is the small cone or cylinder sold as an ice fountain, and it is the difference between sparks going straight up in the photo and a fountain slumping into the icing.
- The ice fountain is not included, and we do not sell them.
- Upright cake fountains only, never thin handheld sparklers. It is a firework: an adult lights it, follows the instructions on the packet and stays with it until it is out.
Each topper is 3D printed to order in PLA, a rigid plant-based plastic, in our studio in Spain. Ten colours in all: black, grey, blue, pink, purple, yellow and four rainbow blends coded RGP, RBG, RYB and BBP. The blends shift shade across the letters and suit a rainbow or pastel party better than any single tone. It is not edible, so it comes off before the cake is cut, and then it usually ends up on a bedroom shelf.

Questions about this topper
How does the spelling work on the name?
We print the name exactly as you type it into the personalisation box, including capitals, lowercase and any accents. We do not tidy it up or guess, because names are personal and guessing goes badly. Read it back once before you order, since personalised items cannot be returned unless they are faulty.
Where do I get the ice fountain from?
Most UK supermarkets and party shops sell them, usually labelled ice fountain or cake fountain, and this is the topper and holder only. It must be the upright cone or cylinder type that shoots sparks straight up, never a thin handheld sparkler on a wire. We do not sell fireworks.
Is a printed topper safe to put on a child's cake?
It is not sold as food safe and it is not edible. PLA is a rigid plant-based plastic, and the topper is a decoration that rests on the icing and is lifted off before serving. If you would rather it did not touch the cake at all, stand it on a small plaque or baking parchment.
How big is the unicorn topper?
About 15 cm (6 in) wide. The height depends on the name, since longer names need more room, but it stays in proportion. It suits a 6 in cake upwards and looks best centred on a single tier. The base is a flat bar, so nothing has to be pushed into the sponge.
Can I have a name and an age on it?
This design takes one name. If you want a name and a number together, look at our bunny or teddy bear toppers, which are laid out around a big age figure and are aimed at 1st and 2nd birthdays. The unicorn stays name-only, which is why it still works for a seven year old.
Does personalisation add to the waiting time?
Not at all, and it costs nothing. Each one is made to order and dispatched from Spain in 1-3 working days, then tracked UK delivery takes 4-7 working days at EUR 8.95, Spain 2-4 at EUR 3.95 and the EU 3-6 at EUR 6.95, free on orders of EUR 35 or more.
