The gingerbread girl is the counterpart to our gingerbread man: the same light brown gingerbread body with a white icing outline, plus a red bow on her head, contentedly closed eyes, round red cheeks, a small red smile, three red buttons and a wavy icing hem on her dress, with two white-trimmed legs peeping out below. The hanging loop with its white string sits on top of her head.
At the back she is built like her counterpart: a printed sleeve on the white reverse, open at the top, so the note peeks out behind her head. Roll the note, slide it in from the top, done: from the front all anyone sees is the motif, and the money only appears when the ornament comes off the tree. Any euro note fits, several rolled together too, and so does a rolled paper voucher – a rigid plastic gift card does not.
She is at her best as one of a pair. A gingerbread man and a gingerbread girl side by side on the tree are the money gift for a couple where each gets their own note, for two siblings who must receive exactly the same, or for grandma and grandad, who otherwise always have to share one envelope. Add a motif every year and a few Christmases later there is a whole gingerbread family on the tree – the man, the girl, the little one in the mug, the house – with each figure standing for one particular year.

Each ornament is 3D-printed to order in PLA, a plant-based bioplastic, in our studio in Spain and hand-finished. It is roughly palm-sized, flat and light, and arrives exactly as photographed – no banknote inside, nothing personalised. The loop and the white string are already attached.

Questions about this topper
How does the money go in?
There is a sleeve printed onto the back, open at the top. Roll the note lengthways, slide it in from the top, and it sits firmly enough not to slip out while the ornament hangs. To take it out, just pull it by the end that shows. None of this is visible from the front.
Which banknotes fit – and does a voucher?
Every euro note fits, from a five to a two hundred, and several notes rolled together too. A paper voucher fits as well if you roll it like a note. A rigid plastic gift card in credit-card format does not fit the sleeve – better to lay that alongside.
Is there a matching gingerbread man?
Yes, the gingerbread man is a separate item in the shop – same construction, same price, same sleeve on the back. The two together are the money gift for a couple or for two siblings: each gets their own figure with their own note, and nobody has to share an envelope. If you like, you can grow the family over the years with the gingerbread man in the mug and the gingerbread house.
Can I keep using the ornament after Christmas?
Yes, that is the whole idea. The money comes out and gets spent; the ornament stays on the tree or goes into the decorations box and comes out again next year. PLA is a rigid plastic that simply wipes clean. And if you like, you refill the sleeve next December.
