A gingerbread house as it might stand on the Advent plate: light brown walls, a white snow-covered roof with an icing edge, a red heart and a white snowflake under the gable, red swirls at the sides, in the middle a white arched door with panes and an arch of red and white dots above it, a red-and-white lollipop on either side, and a hem of snow along the bottom. The hanging loop with its white string sits at the gable.
At the back the sleeve runs up the middle to just under the gable: printed onto the white reverse, open at the top, so the note peeks out under the roof ridge. Roll the note, slide it in from the top, done: from the front all anyone sees is the motif, and the money only appears when the ornament comes off the tree. Any euro note fits, several rolled together too, and so does a rolled paper voucher – a rigid plastic gift card does not.
The house is the widest and most detailed of our money-holder motifs – the ornament that does not hang somewhere between the baubles but gets a spot front and centre. Which is exactly why it is the motif for the bigger money gift: a contribution towards the first flat of their own, moving money, the grandparents' joint present, the family gift for the couple who have just built. A house for the house. Several notes simply roll up together – the sleeve takes a small bundle too.

Questions about this topper
How does the money go in?
There is a sleeve printed onto the back, open at the top. Roll the note lengthways, slide it in from the top, and it sits firmly enough not to slip out while the ornament hangs. To take it out, just pull it by the end that shows. None of this is visible from the front.
Which banknotes fit – and does a voucher?
Every euro note fits, from a five to a two hundred, and several notes rolled together too. A paper voucher fits as well if you roll it like a note. A rigid plastic gift card in credit-card format does not fit the sleeve – better to lay that alongside.
Is the gingerbread house bigger than the other ornaments?
It is the widest motif in the range – a house is simply wider than a figure – and the one with the most detail, although all the ornaments stay roughly palm-sized. The sleeve on the back is the same as on the others: every euro note fits, several rolled together too. If you are giving a larger amount, the house is the obvious choice.
Can I keep using the ornament after Christmas?
Yes, that is the whole idea. The money comes out and gets spent; the ornament stays on the tree or goes into the decorations box and comes out again next year. PLA is a rigid plastic that simply wipes clean. And if you like, you refill the sleeve next December.
