Details

A red mug with a big white snowflake and the handle on the left – and peeking out of the mug, a gingerbread man: red Santa hat with white trim and bobble, rosy cheeks, a broad smile, two red buttons, white icing cuffs, one arm raised in a wave. The hanging loop with its white string sits on the tip of the hat. It is the most colourful of our money-holder motifs – the red of the mug stands out at once even on a crowded tree.

At the back the sleeve sits in the body of the mug: printed onto the white reverse, open at the top, so the note peeks out behind the gingerbread man. Roll the note, slide it in from the top, done: from the front all anyone sees is the motif, and the money only appears when the ornament comes off the tree. Any euro note fits, several rolled together too, and so does a rolled paper voucher – a rigid plastic gift card does not.

The motif is an invitation to get cosy: hot chocolate, a blanket, a candle, dark outside by four in the afternoon. It is the ornament for everyone who prefers to celebrate winter indoors – the friend you watch Christmas films with every year, the child who wants hot chocolate every afternoon in December. And because there is a note inside, the person you give it to can treat themselves to exactly that: the good drinking chocolate, a trip to the cinema, a warm scarf.

  • The money goes on cocoa; the ornament stays. It hangs on the tree again next year and can be refilled.
  • Nothing is personalised, so the 14-day return right applies.
  • Also works tied to the handle of a real mug: mug, cocoa, ornament with a note inside – a finished present.

Each ornament is 3D-printed to order in PLA, a plant-based bioplastic, in our studio in Spain and hand-finished. It is roughly palm-sized, flat and light, and arrives exactly as photographed – no banknote inside, nothing personalised. The loop and the white string are already attached.

We print after you order: 1–3 working days of printing, then 5–10 business days of tracked delivery to Germany – allow up to 14 days. Order in good time before Christmas; for a Nikolaus boot on 6 December, order in November. Shipping is EUR 9.62 per order, free from EUR 70.

Questions about this topper

How does the money go in?

There is a sleeve printed onto the back, open at the top. Roll the note lengthways, slide it in from the top, and it sits firmly enough not to slip out while the ornament hangs. To take it out, just pull it by the end that shows. None of this is visible from the front.

Which banknotes fit – and does a voucher?

Every euro note fits, from a five to a two hundred, and several notes rolled together too. A paper voucher fits as well if you roll it like a note. A rigid plastic gift card in credit-card format does not fit the sleeve – better to lay that alongside.

Is the mug red on the back as well?

No. On all our money-holder ornaments the back is plain white, with the sleeve in the middle – the colours are on the front, the side that faces out on the tree. The rolled note shows at the top behind the gingerbread man so that it is easy to pull out again. If you hang the ornament with the back showing, you give away what is inside.

Can I keep using the ornament after Christmas?

Yes, that is the whole idea. The money comes out and gets spent; the ornament stays on the tree or goes into the decorations box and comes out again next year. PLA is a rigid plastic that simply wipes clean. And if you like, you refill the sleeve next December.

How long is delivery – will it arrive before Christmas?

We print after you order: 1–3 working days of printing, then 5–10 business days of tracked delivery to Germany, so up to 14 days in total. Order at least two weeks before the day you need the ornament – for Nikolaus on 6 December, ideally in November. Shipping is EUR 9.62 per order, free from EUR 70.
