Details

A small brown reindeer with a pale muzzle, a pale belly and pale antlers, a red star on the left antler, a red pointed hat, a round red nose and a red-and-white striped scarf. From the front it is a flat printed motif with a white outline and a white string to hang it by. The back is where the idea lives: a printed tube, open at the top, that takes a rolled-up banknote.

This is the classic one for children and grandchildren. Instead of tucking the note into a card, it hangs inside the reindeer on the tree, and the child gets to pull it out. The note gets spent eventually; the reindeer stays. It hangs on the tree this year and again next year, and a child who gets one from Grandma or Grandad every Christmas ends up with a small herd – and remembers which Christmas each one came from.

  • Every euro note fits, from a five to a hundred; it sticks out a little at the top so it can be gripped. A paper voucher rolls up just the same. A stiff plastic card does not fit.
  • Roughly palm-sized and light, string attached, so it is ready to hang.
  • Arrives exactly as photographed – brown reindeer, red hat, striped scarf. There is nothing to choose and nothing to type.

Each ornament is 3D-printed to order in our studio in Spain in PLA, a rigid plant-based bioplastic, and then hand-finished. The colours are printed in, not painted on. After the holidays it goes into the box with the rest of the decorations.

Order in good time: we print after your order comes in, and printing plus delivery to Germany can take up to 14 days. If the reindeer is meant for the Nikolaus boot on 6 December, order in November; the same goes for Christmas Eve. Nothing on it is personalised, so it comes with our 14-day return right like every non-personalised item.

Questions about this topper

How does the money go in?

On the back there is a printed tube that is open at the top. Roll the note tightly lengthways and slide it in from above; the paper presses against the inside wall and holds itself in place. A bit of the note shows above the tube – that is intended, so you can see something is in there and get hold of it.

Which notes fit?

Any euro note – rolled up, they are all about the same thickness. The photos show a rolled euro note for scale. A paper voucher rolls up and slides in just the same. A stiff plastic gift card does not fit, the tube is not made for that, and coins are not what it is for.

Does the reindeer stay on the tree once the money is out?

Yes, that is the whole idea. The note is the gift; the reindeer is the wrapping that does not get thrown away. PLA is a rigid plastic: wipe it after the holidays, put it in the box with the other decorations, hang it up again next year – with or without a fresh note inside. It makes an easy tradition: a new ornament every year, a note in each one.

Is it suitable for small children?

As a gift, yes – that is exactly its job, and pulling the note out is the moment it is made for. As a toy, no: it is a tree decoration made of rigid plastic with a string on it, and it belongs on the tree, not in the playroom. For very small children an adult takes the note out.

When do I need to order for it to arrive before Christmas?

We print to order: 1–3 working days of printing, then 5–10 business days of tracked delivery to Germany – allow up to 14 days in total. For Nikolaus on 6 December that means ordering by mid-November; for Christmas Eve, by early December, and earlier is better. Shipping is EUR 9.62 per order and free from EUR 70, so several ornaments in one order share the shipping.
